Mar '23 Project Status Update: Monte Castillo's Clean Water Impact
To see the full impact of what sustainable, clean water can do for a community, VAVV explores data from Monte Castillo. Before our clean water project, this community of 7,000+ people was forced to use and drink water from highly contanimated brown water that strongly resembled chocolate milk in color. Now, they have reilable aaccess to abundant, clean water. Read this article to see the real impact clean water has on a community!

“Now, less than 15% of the people in the community of Monte Castillo suffer from Chronic waterborne illnesses (i.e. Diarrhea, Persistent Stomach Pain, etc.) compared to what was over 50% of the population before our clean water project,” Jacob Niemeier, Founder of VAVV, wrote. “This is amazing progress!”

Nov '22 Project Status Update: Approval Progress and Cost Estimates
Throughout the month of November, Vera Aqua Vera Vita has continued working with the Piura Regional Government and various other governing bodies to secure final approval and construction cost estimates for Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water solution.
Oct '22 Project Status Update: Perseverance for Final Approval
This October, the Vera Aqua Vera Vita Planning and Engineering team has been persevering in coordination with authorities in Piura, Peru to secure final approval for water rights, power supply, and use of the Pan-American highway Right of Way (ROW) for the waterline crossing for Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water project.
Sept '22 Project Status Update: Final Stages of Approval
Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) is getting excited to start construction on Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water solution. VAVV is in the final stages of acquiring construction permits from various governing bodies in Piura with hopes of attaining final approvals in the next month or so!

September 2021 Project Status: Narrowing Down Water Source & Infrastructure Location
As the engineering team working non-stop to get everything in order to break ground on construction in early 2022, the two Piura projects have seen a lot of progress since our last update. With geophysical assessments having been completed and topographic evaluations underway, we hope the upcoming weeks hold even more progress and development!
July 2021 Project Status Update: Planning and Detailed Data Collection
With more than half of 2021 under the belt, Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) has some exciting developments to report on the two communities in Piura where Water and Sanitation Hygiene (W.A.S.H.) planning and engineering commenced in June!
Throughout the month of July, VAVV has been coordinating with and contracting consultants to help with the preliminary solution plan for both Cerro de Leones and La Mercedes KM11 and has made significant progress!
Visualizing the Need for Clean Water
From the beginning, VAVV has strived to leverage partners throughout the private & public sector to build our capacity as an organization, improve our designs, tell our story, improve our operations, and provide critical expertise on topics such as strategic planning, fundraising, and project & program delivery. Earlier this year, we were able to do just that by enaging a new partner from the world of data analytics and visualization by the name of Viz for Social Good, an organization that brings together skilled volunteers in the data viz community to visualize impact and tell stories for nonprofits using data.

VAVV is proud to announce the commencement of planning and engineering for both Cerro de Leones and Las Mercedes! We’re excited to bring sustainable solutions to these two communities, working closely with local government agencies, contractors/consultants, and individuals to empower the people to become owners of the solutions for their own community.
