Nov. 2021 Project Status Update: Project Director's Community Visit
With the month of November coming to a close, Vera Aqua Vera Vita has exciting news to share - this month, for the first time in our organization’s history, we got to send Ricardo Arbulu, VAVV’s newly paid Director of Peruvian Projects and Programs, to our active projects in Piura, Peru! We’re excited to report that we’ve also had significant progress in the logistical battles we were in the midst of fighting last month.
Arbulu traveled from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, to rural Piura, Peru where our active projects are currently underway, in the hopes to connect and grow in understanding with the communities we’re serving right now, and those we hope to serve down the line. He arrived on Nov. 24th and spent four days visiting the seven communities we’re serving and hope to serve down the line, meeting with our partners such as consultants, and Rotary Club members, and assessing some of the challenges we will have to face in upcoming months.
Vera Aqua Vera Vita is very proud of our grassroots approach, empowering the community by giving them the tools and support they need to take full ownership of their own development and growth - that’s why building up these relationships with the communities we serve is so important. The only way to provide a successful, sustainable solution is with a strong level of understanding and engagement from the communities, our partners on the ground, and our organization’s home base here in Dallas - and what better way than for our Projects Director to return to his native land of Peru and get the chance to physically connect in a way that COVID-19 has prevented for a long time!
Last month’s project status update saw a deep dive into the logistical legwork of erecting a building of any type, but especially the type of clean water infrastructure our organization seeks to provide. On Nov. 23rd, VAVV successfully submitted the application to obtain the Certificate of Non-Existence of Archaeological Remains, while the preparation of Annex 7 for Peru’s National Water Authority (ANA), which will give us authorization for water rights and approval to execute the project, has begun the first week of November.
We’re so blessed to be able to send our employees overseas to be the eyes and ears we need on the ground to strengthen our community ties and our understanding of the project’s growth and challenges. And your support is what makes it all possible! Give today for #GivingTuesday and take generosity into your own hands! Remember that your donation will be matched dollar for dollar by our generous donors, so your support will go twice as far towards our mission!
