Feb. '22 Project Status Update: Study Completion & Prepping for Missionaries

Last month in Peru, Vera Aqua Vera Vita made significant developments on our two active projects; not only have we reached completion on the necessary environmental studies, but we’ve also solidified partial funding for our projects in partnership with the Piura Regional Government. We’ve also taken steps so that when our Missionaries arrive on ground next week, they’ll have everything they need to break ground on construction!

Feb 17 marked the completion of the data collection and studies phase of the project - that was the day Remicio & Gutierrez (R&G) Consultants completed and submitted their last and final study. They’ve been working on geotechnical studies for both communities so that we can confirm the structural integrity of the soil where we plan to build these facilities.

On Feb 14, representatives from VAVV’s Planning and Engineering team met with the Piura Regional Government to discuss the details of project’s funding. Now, they’ve committed to funding 50% of one new water system, and they committed to find a third party to fund 50% of the other water system. It’s incredibly encouraging to have their generous  support in these important projects.

Looking forward, March is a very busy month for VAVV. Our Annual Mission Trip, which has in recent years, unfortunately, been canceled due to COVID, will be sending 9 Missionaries to implement the VAVV WASH Education Workshop in Monte Castillo and help break ground on construction in Cerro de Leones and Las Mercedes KM11. On March 8, our in country contracted surveryor, Luis Solis, will be visiting the respective communities to stake/mark the areas where the Missionaries will be shoveling dirt to excavate for the facility’s foundations. Our Missionaries are very excited to make such an important first step in the construction of this new clean water system which will bring clean water to these communities for generations to come!
