June Project Status Update: Construction Is Weeks Away & Our Missionaries Break Ground
June delivered the last major engineering milestone before construction begins in Las Mercedes KM11 — and the groundbreaking is now set for the fourth week of July, with VAVV missionaries on the ground. Meanwhile, Las Mercedes held its formal design kickoff for the community groundwater well, and Totoral Bajo kept laying the foundation for its future river-based system. The mission is moving. May brought a landmark moment for Las Mercedes KM11 — an official government recognition that marks the community as the rightful steward of their own water future — alongside a sustainable aquifer in Las Mercedes, persistent land-rights advocacy in La Merced, and continued groundwork in Totoral Bajo. September 2021 Project Status: Narrowing Down Water Source & Infrastructure Location
As the engineering team working non-stop to get everything in order to break ground on construction in early 2022, the two Piura projects have seen a lot of progress since our last update. With geophysical assessments having been completed and topographic evaluations underway, we hope the upcoming weeks hold even more progress and development!
