Find your Passion with VAVV - NTX Giving Day 2022
Vera Aqua Vera Vita is excited to take part in this North Texas (NTX) Giving season yet again because we know that, with such expanded engagement within DFW in the last year and with a successful NTX Giving Day, we’ll be able to provide enrichment and opportunities like never before! As many of you know, North Texas Giving Day is an annual season of giving that is devoted to issues of and engagement with the North Texas community.
Last NTX Giving Day, $66 million dollars were donated to charity organizations who work in North Texas – from animal placement to homes for the homeless – and every single dollar raised was put back into the North Texas Community! It’s a momentous season for individuals to give back to the communities they live in or even where they were born and raised.
But this isn’t the only reason people are giving this year – Communities Foundation of Texas, who puts on NTX Giving Day every year, deemed this year’s catchphrase as “Find your Passion, Give with Purpose.” I’d like to call everyone within North Texas and outside to truly search and find their passion, though I hope that people of all ages, interests, and walks of life can find that passion in our organization and the various programs and events we put on.
If you find that passion is children and you have a calling to teach, VAVV’s educational program is for you. Recently developed, VAVV hasn’t been able to go to schools to give them these important facts and strategies… yet! We hope that this next year will garner enough interest that we could take a team into our local schools, Catholic, public, and everywhere in-between!
For our collegiate level young adults, we’re excited to remind all that the University of Dallas (UD) has a student-led club that is devoted to finding the intersection between the Catholic-centric Mission of UD and that of Vera Aqua Vera Vita! Last year, they hosted information sessions about VAVV and the Mission Trip, Fundraised for Missionaries to go on the Mission Trip, created volunteer and service opportunities to clean up Dallas’ waterways, and hosted social parties and gatherings for the entire UD community! Already the VAVV Club is rearing to get started with their new year on the University of Dallas campus, working to raise awareness for VAVV and the global water crisis, garner support, and serve their local community! Down the line, we see students from many universities will start their own Student Clubs and/or get involved with our various collegiate programs!
For anyone looking to grow in their faith life with a community of devoted, Catholic adults, Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s Quarterly Mass and Brunch is the place for you! The VAVV Family meets up 4 times a year (next gathering Nov. 12) to celebrate Mass together for the intentions of those we serve in Peru, those of our VAVV family, and to pray for our Lord’s perpetual guidance in our organization.
For our local RIPPLE community, those who believe so strongly in our Mission that they donate monthly to sustain our daily activities, this is the first year in VAVV history that we’ve had the bandwidth to give them a VIP perk to show our utmost gratitude. This upcoming weekend on Saturday, August 27th, we will host the local RIPPLE community members for dinner and drinks, certainly to show our gratitude, but also to gather them all together to grow the personal connection of the community and with our VAVV staff.
None of this growth would have been possible without the incredible success of VAVV’s 2021 NTX Giving Day, which widely surpassed our goal and raised over $30,000. With a successful NTX Giving Day season this year, we’ll be able to see even more development of existing programs, as well as the institution of new programs, such as launching for the first time our children’s education workshop to teach W.A.S.H. principles and conservation strategies in our local schools.
Throughout all of these programs, events and opportunities we work to spread awareness for the global water crisis, for our mission, for our future vision, and for the impact of our organization and the issues we battle daily. With more awareness, engagement, and advocacy (which a successful NTX Giving Day will facilitate), we’ll continue our growth trajectory and be able to serve those who need us in Peru faster, more efficiently, and with more support and empowerment from our local supporters!
I hope you’ll join Vera Aqua Vera Vita in making a big impact this NTX Giving Day!
