Sept 2023 PSU: Solidarity Visit & Project Reinitiation

We're thrilled to provide you with the latest developments in our journey to bring clean water to the communities we serve! September has been an eventful month filled with progress and exciting news.

Las Mercedes KM11: Almost Ready for Construction

Our clean water project in Las Mercedes KM11 has reached a substantial milestone; we are nearly ready to begin construction! The groundwork has been laid, but a few crucial steps remain.

Firstly, we are diligently working to identify the landowners necessary to grant us the final pipeline easement. This easement is essential for pumping clean water into Las Mercedes KM11, and our dedicated team is leaving no stone unturned in this effort.

Additionally, we are in the process of obtaining full Right of Way (ROW) approval to pass the pipeline under the Pan American Highway. This step is critical to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of our water infrastructure.

Furthermore, we are still diligently preparing to submit TUPA 1 to the National Water Authority (ANA) for project water rights. Once secured, this approval will grant us the legal framework to access and utilize the water resources vital for our project's success.

Renato Mejia: Building Solidarity and Community

We are immensely proud of our dedicated volunteers who embody the spirit of VAVV's mission. One such shining example is Renato Mejia, a VAVV Engineering Volunteer. Renato recently celebrated the founding of Las Mercedes KM11 with the community, fostering solidarity and camaraderie on behalf of our mission. His presence is been instrumental in strengthening our bond with the community we are honored to serve.

Cerro de Leones: Project Restart and Rotary Global Grant Sponsorship

In exciting news, we are reinitiating our clean water project in the hillside community of 500+ in Cerro de Leones! This project had been temporarily put on hold to expedite progress in Las Mercedes KM11, and we are now thrilled to resume our efforts.

Even more exciting is the verbal agreement we've received from the Plano Sunrise Rotary Club. They have generously agreed to sponsor a Rotary Global Grants request for full funding of Cerro de Leones' clean water solution. This support is a testament to the power of community partnerships and our collective commitment to providing clean and sustainable water solutions.

As we move forward into October, we remain focused and determined to overcome the remaining challenges in Las Mercedes KM11 while revitalizing our efforts in Cerro de Leones. These projects embody our unwavering dedication to bringing clean water and hope to those in need.

We thank each and every one of you for your continued support and enthusiasm for our mission. Stay tuned for more updates as we work together to create a world where clean water is a reality for all!
