Jan 2024 PSU: Ensuring Rights Routes
Cerro de Leones: A Step Closer to Clean Water
Vera Aqua Vera Vita's project in Cerro de Leones, aimed at benefiting over 550 residents, is making significant headway. The community, currently dependent on a water source over a mile away with 13 contaminants, is eagerly awaiting the completion of a comprehensive water solution.
Key Developments:
Right of Easements Initiated: The process for securing right of easements commenced on January 20. This step is essential for the installation of the pipeline that will transport water from the contaminated source to the heart of the community where it will be treated and distributed on site.
Land Surveys by Luis Solis: On January 27, expert consultant Luis Solis began efforts to conduct an additional land survey of additional geographically-adjacent area. These surveys are crucial in determining the most efficient route for the pipeline, assessing the feasibility of a potential shortcut, and ensuring the project's success.
Las Mercedes KM11: Gaining Ground
The project in Las Mercedes KM11, home to over 1,500 residents, is also progressing well. The focus here is to provide a sustainable water solution for a larger community.
Recent Progress:
PECHP's Easement Approval: A significant breakthrough occurred on January 15 when Piura's Special Projects Authority (PECHP) granted the right of easement for their land, which will eventually provide the legal framework for our proposed pipeline under their property. Now, the easement just needs to be officially recorded and filed with the agency in charge of land records.
GRP’s Recognition of Public Road: The remaining part of the land covering our project (that we need to secure right of easement for) has been declared a public road by the GRP (Regional Government of Piura). We are working with the GRP to finalize an official document that marks a significant milestone because it provides us with the necessary legal framework to advance with the pipeline installation.
Construction Cost Consultations: To estimate the project's costs, four local consultants have been given the technical documentation and enlisted to do detailed cost estimates. Their insights will guide the financial planning for the capital costs of the construction phase, which includes conveyance, storage, and treatment facilities.
Looking Forward
These advancements in both projects mark a pivotal moment in our journey towards providing clean and accessible water to Cerro de Leones and Las Mercedes KM11. The right of easement acquisitions, land surveys, and legal acknowledgments lay the groundwork for the physical implementation of the clean water system infrastructure. Meanwhile, consultations with experts on construction costs will ensure that we proceed with a clear, feasible budget.
As we move forward, Vera Aqua Vera Vita remains committed to transparently updating our supporters and stakeholders on these life-changing projects. Together, we are making strides towards a future where clean water is not a luxury but a given for every community we serve. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring our vision to life!
