February PSU: Permitting Progress
This February, Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) has made significant strides in its mission to provide sustainable clean water solutions to underserved communities. Our latest project updates from Cerro de Leones and Las Mercedes KM 11 spotlight a journey of hope, resilience, and community empowerment, aiming to transform lives through access to clean water.
Las Mercedes KM 11: Engineering a Brighter Future
At Las Mercedes KM 11, the engineering team has been diligently advancing the management and construction aspects of our water project. With the GRP working on public road easement registration and local consultants preparing construction cost estimates, we’re laying the groundwork for a future where clean water is a reality, not a distant dream. The local water authority, ANA, has granted verbal approval as of Feb. 28 on approving Water Rights for the clean water system which marks a significant milestone, bringing us closer to our goal.
In the coming month, we aim to finalize cost estimations, sign the agreement with GRP, complete the PECHP easement registration, and submit our application to the transportation authority, MTC, for highway crossing authorization. We will then put the project out to bid for Construction Contractor Services, ensuring a competitive and best-fit selection process for the project’s next phase.
Cerro de Leones: Laying the Groundwork for Sustainable Water Access
In the picturesque but challenging terrains of Cerro de Leones, our efforts have been focused on laying the foundational steps for a project that promises to bring clean, potable water to the heart of this community. Last month, we initiated the process of securing the project’s Right of Easements with local landowners, a critical step towards ensuring the project’s smooth progression. Furthermore, Luis Solis, our dedicated RPLS, has provided new land surveys, expanding our understanding of the terrain and enabling us to plan more effectively.
Looking ahead to March, our team is set to begin a comprehensive Hydrological and Hydraulic assessment of the Rio San Francisco. This evaluation is crucial for the preparation of Annex 7, a report necessary for submitting the TUPA 13 application to the water authority, ANA, for the Water Rights Application. Alongside this, we will continue our efforts to secure the necessary easements and work diligently on preparing the Rotary International Global Grant Application so that we can secure the necessary funding to construct the clean water system all while aiming to ensure that the project’s momentum continues unabated.
A Community United by Clean Water
Both projects underscore our commitment to not just providing clean water but fostering community resilience and sustainable development. By tackling the challenges head-on, from securing easements to navigating regulatory approvals, VAVV is laying a solid foundation for the future.
These initiatives are more than just infrastructure projects; they are lifelines that promise to revitalize communities, enhance public health, and unlock economic potential. As we move forward, we remain grateful for the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and the communities we serve. Together, we will not jus give clean water; we weill lasting hope, health, and the promise of a brighter future.
