May Project Status Update: Approaching Milestones

Press Release

As May comes to a close, Vera Aqua Vera Vita is pleased to share the latest developments in our ongoing clean water projects in the communities of Las Mercedes KM11 and Cerro de Leones in rural Piura, Peru. These updates highlight significant milestones and the continuous efforts of our team to bring sustainable water solutions to these areas.

Las Mercedes KM11: Advancing the Appeal for Water Rights

In Las Mercedes KM11, our primary focus this month has been on appealing the local water authority’s unsubstantiated denial of our water rights application. We have just received notification of the date for our oral hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, June 4th. This hearing represents a crucial step in our efforts to secure the necessary water rights to proceed with our well-researched and vital project.

We are hopeful that the oral hearing will lead to a favorable outcome, allowing us to obtain the official, written approval of the water rights through an accepted appeal of ALA’s decision from the National Court for the Resolution of Water Disputes. This approval is essential for the next phases of our project, ensuring we can move forward with our planned water infrastructure to benefit the community.

Cerro de Leones: Securing Water Rights for Sustainability

In Cerro de Leones, we have reached a significant milestone by submitting the TUPA 13 application to ANA for the Water Rights Application on Friday, May 24th. This submission is pivotal to securing the water rights for the sustainability and legal protection of our project.

ANA has indicated that they will grant us the water rights within approximately 25 days. Securing these rights is crucial to ensuring the longevity and effectiveness of our water project in Cerro de Leones, as it provides the legal framework and protection needed to support the community's access to clean water.

Continued Commitment and Gratitude

The progress in Las Mercedes KM11 and Cerro de Leones underscores Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s unwavering dedication to overcoming challenges and making tangible strides toward providing clean, sustainable water solutions. We remain committed to advocating for these communities and navigating the legal and logistical hurdles to ensure the success of our projects.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support from our partners, stakeholders, and the broader community. Your support is invaluable as we continue to work towards a future where every person has access to safe, clean water.
