Securing the Water Tanker Truck for Las Mercedes KM11

As February comes to a close, we're making big strides toward bringing clean water to Las Mercedes KM11! This month, we’ve focused on securing a Water Tanker Truck, a crucial piece of the system that will deliver safe water to over 1,200 residents. With our Capital Campaign underway and construction on the horizon, we’re pushing toward our first major milestone—raising $14,000 to purchase the truck. Read on to see our progress and how you can help make this project a reality!

Critical Progress in February

Project Capital Campaign Launched

On February 1st, we officially launched the Project Capital Campaign to raise the $40,000 needed to fully fund the construction and implementation of the Las Mercedes KM11 clean water system. This campaign will allow us to bring the system’s three key components to life:

  • A Water Tanker Truck to transport clean water to the community.

  • A Concrete Ground Storage Tank to hold and manage the supply.

  • A Distribution Kiosk where the community can access and affordably purchase clean water.

The first milestone in this campaign is securing $14,000 to purchase the Water Tanker Truck, and we are making great strides toward that goal have already raised nearly $4,500.

Selecting the Water Tanker Truck

After extensive research and discussions with several local and international tanker truck companies, we received five quotes and carefully analyzed our options. On February 19th, we made our final selection on the Water Tanker Truck we intend to purchase—an essential step in ensuring the best long-term solution for the community.

Finalizing Funding and Preparing for Purchase

Following our truck selection, we submitted the official Water Tanker Truck quote to GRP on February 20th, allowing them to incorporate this into the final funding agreement. On February 26th, we took additional steps to prepare for its use by initiating efforts to officially register the truck as a Water Tanker Truck in public records and adapt it for water distribution.

To protect this critical asset, we also began researching security devices to ensure the truck remains safe and operational for years to come.

Community Leadership in Action

The Clean Water System Committee in Las Mercedes KM11—formed to manage and sustain the project long-term—has officially begun registering as a legal private entity with SUNARP. This legal registration is an essential step toward allowing the committee to own and manage the Water Tanker Truck and oversee the entire water distribution system for the community’s benefit.

Next Steps in March

With the groundwork in place, March will be a decisive month for securing funding, finalizing logistics, and preparing for construction. Our priorities include:

  • Completing Phase I of the Project Capital Campaign to raise the $14,000 needed to purchase the Water Tanker Truck (1st week of March).

  • Finalizing the legal registration of the Clean Water System Committee with SUNARP, allowing them to officially own and operate the truck (2nd week of March).

  • Completing truck inspections, registration, and servicing to ensure it is ready for water distribution (3rd week of March).

  • Securing a signed Funding Plan Agreement with GRP for construction costs, ensuring the structures and labor needed for the storage and distribution system are fully funded (3rd week of March).

Help Us Reach the $14,000 Mark to Purchase the Water Tanker Truck!

We are at a critical point in making Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water solution a reality. Right now, we are working to raise the first $14,000 of our $40,000 Capital Campaign goal to purchase the Water Tanker Truck. This truck is the lifeline of the entire project, enabling safe and reliable water delivery to over 1,200 people.

Every dollar donated to our Capital Campaign is restricted to project costs and will go directly toward building this system. Your contribution today will bring safe, affordable clean water into the heart of this community for generations to come.

Donate today and be part of this life-changing project!
