August 2023 PSU: Land Ownership and Water Rights Progress

We are excited to provide you with an update on the recent developments in Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s clean water project, focusing on land ownership clarifications, regulatory advancements, and the upcoming milestones that will pave the way for clean water access in the rural community of Las Mercedes KM11.

Land Ownership Clarifications for Easement Approval

In our continued efforts to ensure the success, longevity, and sustainability of this project, our team has been actively seeking clarity regarding land ownership. We need to secure the necessary approvals to establish a crucial easement that will allow us to lay the pipeline infrastructure. This pipeline will serve as the lifeline for our project, transporting water from a distant, contaminated water source to our advanced filtration system located at the heart of the rural, desert community of Las Mercedes KM11.

By collaborating closely with stakeholders such as Caja Piura, the Provincial Municipality of Piura, and ENOSA, we are working towards obtaining the essential permissions that will enable us to send the necessary piping through the designated easement area. This critical step will facilitate the transportation of water from the distant source to our filtration system, where it will be purified to provide clean and safe drinking water to the community.

Regulatory Advancements: TUPA 1 Application to ANA

We are pleased to report that we have made significant strides in completing over 80% of the TUPA 1 (Temporary Use of Water for Human Consumption) application, which is a crucial part of securing water rights for the project. We hope to have this application, which we have spent months diligently preparing, submitted to the National Water Authority (ANA) early next month. The successful approval of this application will provide us with the legal framework to access and utilize the water resources necessary for our project's operations.

Upon submission, this application will mark a significant milestone, bringing us closer to realizing our goal of delivering clean and sustainable water to the Las Mercedes KM11 community!

Moving Forward Together

Through various project difficulties, the entire Vera Aqua Vera Vita team perseveres with great zeal to see the project's success, driven by the unwavering belief that every community deserves access to clean and safe drinking water. We extend our gratitude to our dedicated team members, supportive stakeholders, and the Las Mercedes KM11 community for their ongoing cooperation, input, and enthusiasm.

We will continue to keep you updated as we make progress on these critical fronts. The journey towards providing a brighter future for Las Mercedes KM11 (and far beyond) is a collective effort, and we are excited to forge ahead on this path of transformation!
