Apr '23 Project Status Update: Improve lives before clean water flows!
In the month of April, our Planning and Engineering Team pressed on in the race to receive approvals and rights to complete the clean water solution in Las Mercedes KM11. As they progress steadily toward significant milestones for the solution’s completion, the time is coming for our Mission trip to go and connect with and educate the community!
On the project side, the engineering team has continued to hold weekly meetings to advance the project’s engineering and construction. And their work has certainly paid off! Over the past few months, they have submitted TUPA 13 (an application for water rights), received verbal approval for the water rights and for the use of land necessary for the project pipeline, and have been in deep and earnest conversation with the Piura Regional Government to receive full project approval.
In just under three months, the time will arrive for Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s Mission trip to embark on their annual journey to educate, empower and connect with the people in rural Peru. Open your eyes to their way of life and encounter Christ in the joy you find there. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of thousands.
While our projects are still underway and we have yet to empower the community with True Water, Vera Aqua Vera Vita wants to help supply the practical tools to deal with water stress and contamination now. That’s why our Mission team implements our water sanitation and hygiene (W.A.S.H.) community training each year to help the community stay safe with lessons on simple home water filtration, storage, and best practices.
These lessons are vital to helping the community stay healthy, by mitigating the impacts of consumption of contaminated water sources and so they can preserve the cleanliness of the water that will flow from the engineered clean water system VAVV will bring to fullfilment in collaboration with the people soon.
Prayerfully consider giving of yourself generously this July and flying to Peru to serve our brothers and sisters in need. Last year’s Missionaries found themselves truly in awe of what they discovered about the world and even about themselves when they laid down their lives (for just 10 days) to serve those in need who deserve better! All are welcome!
