New Moonshine in Town

July 26, 2019 | Dallas, TX

There’s a new kind of moonshine. In some parts, it’s a hot commodity, and only a few people can get it. It’s called clean water. It’s the top conversation at Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s largest annual fundraising event, “An Evening at a Speakeasy” on Oct. 5, 2019, at Saint Paul’s Parish Center in Richardson, Texas.

With more than 844 million people living without access to clean water, Vera Aqua Vera Vita will host its annual event to bring clean water facilities to developing countries on the belief that securing a clean water source means securing a bright future for a community.

This year, Vera Aqua Vera Vita implemented a clean water treatment facility in Monte Castillo, Peru, and VAVV, also, employed local workers to begin repairing the infrastructure of the community’s sewer system. This will have a huge impact on the health conditions of the people of Monte Castillo, many of whom contract illnesses from open-defecation and an insufficient water supply and wastewater disposal system.

It’s the second time the Dallas-based non-profit organization will be hosting their biggest event of the year, and it will be sticking with the theme of a 1920s speakeasy.

For one night, supporters enjoy a timeless experience amid a 1920s speakeasy, complete with music and moonshine. Attendees arrive in flapper dresses and fedoras. A live jazz band provides the ambience for the stylish evening. Sleek bottles of wine and whiskey—an assortment of brands low and high—sit on a long table waiting to be auctioned off. A silent auction is open throughout the event—featuring big-ticket items from generous members of the community. The evening will end with an hour of swing dancing in the spirit of speakeasies.

All the proceeds from ticket and auction sales will go towards funding Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s operations in Monte Castillo and other communities. Sponsorships for the VAVV event are available. Ticket purchase can be made at https://veraaquaveravita.org/annual-fundraising-event. Early Bird ticket prices will be $50 until August 17th after which time the prices will jump to $65.
