Clean Water Is Rolling In: Las Mercedes KM11 Takes a Giant Step Forward

After more than two years of collaboration, trust-building, and shared hope, Vera Aqua Vera Vita is thrilled to share a major milestone in our clean water partnership with the incredible community of Las Mercedes KM11.

On June 13th, after months of planning and preparation, VAVV finalized the payment of $36,150, and the community signed ownership of their new water tanker truck—a monumental step forward in delivering clean, life-giving water to over 1,200 residents. This truck isn’t just a vehicle—it’s a symbol of progress, empowerment, and a brighter future.

Though the full water system—including a ground storage tank and centralized distribution kiosk—is still awaiting completion, this truck brings immediate relief. It allows the community to safely transport water from miles away, from established, safely managed water systems, and deliver it directly to the doorsteps of families in Las Mercedes KM11.

A First Taste of What’s to Come

Just a few days before the official signing, on June 9th, the truck made its debut in the community—and it was nothing short of historic. As a celebratory gesture, the community leadership used the new tanker to collect and deliver the first round of clean water to residents, completely free of charge!

As barrels filled in front of homes, smiles spread across faces, neighbors gathered in joy, and for the first time, families saw clean, reliable water delivered right to their door (see photos below).

A Community Long Overdue for Relief

Since its founding, Las Mercedes KM11 has struggled under the weight of water insecurity. Without reliable infrastructure, families relied on unsafe sources, long treks for water, and faced constant threats of waterborne illness.

This truck represents a turning point. For the first time, the community owns and manages its clean water distribution system and can bring water directly to where it’s needed most. Thanks to supporters like you, VAVV was able to purchase the full truck outright for $36,150 and has empowered this community to take hold of their future! This truck is more than a lifeline—it brings dignity, health, and a tangible sign that transformation is not just possible—it’s happening.

Even before the ground storage tank and kiosk are complete, this truck is equipped to directly serve the community, and once the construction is finished, it will be used to fill the centrally located ground storage tank on a regular basis, ensuring consistent and sustainable water access for years to come.

Let’s Finish What We Started

We’ve already made a major investment to get this project to this point—funding the truck, empowering the community, and laying the groundwork for lasting change. But we’re not done yet. To bring this project across the finish line and ensure long-term sustainability and safety, we need your help to raise the remaining funds to complete the construction of the clean water ground storage tanke and water distribution kiosk. These final pieces are crucial to delivering permanent, community-managed clean water access to Las Mercedes KM11.

💧 Be Part of the Final Chapter

This isn’t just infrastructure—it’s a mission. It’s dignity. It’s transformation. And it’s happening—with your help. Your gift to our Capital Campaign goes directly and exclusively toward finishing the clean water system in Las Mercedes KM11, serving over 1,200 people who deserve a safer, healthier future.

Let’s keep the momentum rolling. Let’s finish what we started—together!
