Healing Prayer Missionary
During our most recent trip to Peru in August, we (Alberto & I) had the privilege of meeting an incredibly passionate and faithful missionary by the name of Lisa Filip who was staying at Santisimo Sacramento, the mission center in Piura, which was and is our base of operations during our time working with the people of Monte Castillo. Lisa had already been in Peru for almost 7 weeks by the time we arrived, and she stayed a couple days longer in Piura than we did. We were in Piura from essentially August 4th to August 30th.
Meeting Lisa was definitely no coincidence (truly a God-incidence) for us because her strong faith in the Lord’s desire to heal people both physically and spiritually led both Alberto and I to encounter and witness the power of healing prayer both personally and for those we were serving. Both Alberto and I can attest that the grace and mercy of Christ was present in the missionary service of Lisa! Lisa accompanied us during our visits to Monte Castillo on multiple occasions and seamlessly she became a critical champion of prayer for the people; a source of joy, fun, and play for the children; and a fantastic volunteer photographer/videographer.
Having met and served alongside Lisa, I can certainly attest that the true purpose of our missionary service became abundantly clear! It is about so much more than just meeting the physical needs of the people with clean water & sanitation solutions. In the end-analysis, it is about being an instrument of God’s love throgh which the people can encounter the Divine Healer, the Living Water of Jesus Christ. It was beautiful to see what a simple encounter with a Healing Prayer Missionary had on our approach to missionary service. The biggest take-away for myself is that the providential plans of God are far better than our own plans and surrendering more fully in trust to His will is always the right choice!
